Setting Up Weighted Grading & Assignment Categories

Weighted categories let you match your teacher's grading scheme (e.g., Homework 30%, Quizzes 20%, Exams 50%). Weighted grading is enabled for a class whenever any of its categories has a Weight (%) value set.

How to Set Up Weighted Grading

1. Open Classes and tap on the class you want to configure
2. Select the Categories tab
3. Tap the + button to add a category, or tap an existing category to edit it
4. Set the Weight (%) field to match the weight given in your syllabus
5. Tap Save
6. Repeat for each category—all weights should add up to 100%

Helium Classic

In Helium Classic, the steps are similar but the navigation differs:

1. Open Classes and click on the class you want to configure
2. Click Categories
3. Add a Weight for each category, matching the weights provided in your syllabus
4. All Weight values should add up to 100%

Helium Classic will remain available through at least Summer 2026.
