What Grade Do I Need? (Grade Calculator)

The What Grade Do I Need? calculator helps you figure out what score you need on an upcoming assignment to hit a target overall grade for a class.

How to Open the Calculator

  1. Open Grades
  2. Tap the What Grade Do I Need? icon (calculator), to the right of the "Grade Trend" header
  3. If you have multiple eligible courses, a list will appear—select the class you want to calculate for

The calculator icon only appears when at least one of your classes has a category that meets the requirements below.

Requirements

The calculator works for a category when:

  • The category has a Weight (%) set (weighted grading must be configured)
  • The category has exactly one remaining ungraded assignment

If a category does not meet these requirements, it will not be shown in the dropdown. See Setting Up Weighted Grading & Assignment Categories if weighted grading is not yet configured for your class.

Using the Calculator

  1. The calculator shows your current overall grade for the class
  2. Select the target category (the category containing the one remaining ungraded item)
  3. Enter your desired overall grade
  4. Tap Calculate

The result will tell you one of the following:

  • You need X% or higher on that category to achieve your desired grade — aim for that score
  • You're already above your target — your current grade already meets or exceeds what you entered
  • Score is unachievable — the needed score exceeds 100%; you may need to adjust your target
