Setting Up and Managing Reminders

Reminders let you receive an alert before an assignment is due, or when a class or event is about to start. You can add reminders to any assignment, class schedule, or event, and configure how they are sent.

Adding a Reminder

For an Assignment or Event

1. Open the Planner and tap on an assignment or event to open its details
2. In the details panel, tap +
3. Enter a Message for the reminder, Type, and Remind before
4. Tap Save

For a Class

Class reminders fire before every session of a class's recurring schedule.

1. Open Classes and tap the class
2. Go to the Schedule Reminders tab, tap +
3. Enter a Message for the reminder, Type, and Remind before
4. Tap Save

Setting a Default Reminder

To avoid re-configuring the same type and offset every time, set the defaults in Settings → Preferences to configure what is pre-filled for each reminder:

• Default reminder — sets the default reminder Type (Email or Push)
• Remind before — sets the default offset (e.g., "1 Day", "10 minutes")

Notification Center

The Notification Center (bell icon in the navigation bar) collects Push reminders after they have been sent. From there you can:

• Tap a notification to open the linked assignment, class, or event
• Dismiss individual notifications to remove them from the list

Notifications are removed automatically when you edit or delete their linked item.

Enabling Push Notifications on Your Device

For Push reminders to work, Helium must be on your device, and your device must have notifications enabled for the app (or browser, if using web). When you first use Push reminders, your device may prompt you to allow notifications. If you previously declined, you can re-enable them in your device's system settings.

Helium Classic

In Helium Classic, reminders work similarly:

• Popup — alerts in the browser
• Email — sent to your registered email address

There are no Push notifications in Helium Classic.

Helium Classic will remain available until July 31, 2026.
