Customizing Colors for Planner Display

Helium offers several color customization options for how items appear on your Planner. These settings are found in Settings → Preferences.

Available Color Options

1. Color for Events — The default color applied to non-academic calendar items (Events)
2. Color for grade badges — The color used when displaying grade badges on assignments
3. Color for resource badges — The color used when displaying resource badges on assignments
4. Color by category — When enabled, Planner items are colored by their category rather than by class. This is especially useful for visually distinguishing Homework vs. Quizzes vs. Exams, or for tracking workload across categories.

Helium Classic

In Helium Classic, these same options are available under Account → Settings → Preferences, but use slightly different labels:

• Event Colors — Default color for Events
• Grade Badge Colors — Color used when displaying grades
• Material Badge Colors — Color used when displaying materials (called Resources in the new Helium)
• Category-Based Coloring — Colors items by category instead of by class

Helium Classic will remain available through at least Summer 2026.
